AUTHOR GUIDELINES

Author Guidelines (PDF)

 

Papers submitted for publication must conform to the following guidelines:

  1. Papers should discuss the themes of Contemporary Islamic Jurisprudance, relating to aspects of worship (ibadah), family, economics, crime, women, medical and technology written either in Indonesia, English or Arabic;
  2. Papers must be typed in one-half spaced on A4-paper size; Papers‟ length is about 5000-7,000 words;
  3. All submission must include a 150-200 word abstract;
  4. Full name(s) of the author(s) must be stated, along with his/her/their institution and complete address;
  5. All submission should be in OpenOffice or Microsoft Word document file format;
  6. Arabic romanization should be written:’, b, t, th, j, ḥ, kh, d, dh, r, z, s, sh, ṣ, ḍ, ṭ, ẓ, ‘, gh, f, q, l, m, n, h, w, y. Short vowels: a, i, u. long vowels: ā, ī, ū. Diphthongs: aw, ay. Tā marbūṭā: t. Article: al-. For detail information on Arabic Romanization, please refer the transliteration system of the Library of Congress (LC) Guidelines.
  7. Bibliographical reference must be noted in footnote and bibliography according to The Chicago Manual of Style.
  8. When a source is cited for the first time, full information is provided: full name(s) of author(s), title of the source in italic, place of publication, publishing company, date of publication, and the precise page that is ci For the following citations of the same source, list the author’s last name, two or three words of the title, and the specific page number(s). The word ibid. may be used, but op.cit., and loc.cit. are not.

Please consider the following creteria:

  1. Writing quotes and bibliography lists use the Mendeley, Zotero, and EndNote reference manager application with Chicago Manual of Style 17th edition (full note, with Ibi)
  2. The title of the article submittd to NALAR FIQH should reflect a specific focus of study, based on researches--be they library or fieldwork researches--and thus the author can have a general statement and sub-title specifically confining the scope of study
  3. The article submitted should be based on research--be it library or fieldwork or other kinds of researches
  4. The article should present bibliography which entails primary sources--books, manuscripts, interviews, or observation--and updated secondary sources from books or peer reviewed journals
  5. The article should contain an argument/thesis/finding which contribute to scholarly discussion in a field of study which should clearly be mentioned and systematically presented in abstract, content, and conclusion
  6. The article should use good English, or at least can be understood; the author is fully responsible in fixing and editing English; the copy editor of NALAR FIQH is responsible only for minor typos and understandable grammatical erros
  7. The style and format, including the structure of article, footnotes, bibliography, should follow those of NALAR FIQH
  8. The template of NALAR FIQH article in word document format is available for download he

 

NOTE:

It is suggested to use a reference manager at styling the footnote and the bibliography, such as Zotero, Mendeley with the Chicago Manual of Style 17th edition (full note, with Ibid.) citation style.
